The once rejected stone in urban music shows, Mzuzu is now proving to be a darling to many urban artists countrywide.
After experiencing a top-notch gig at the Mzuzu Tourist lodge a week or so ago, last Friday was another day Mzuzu youths were mesmerized by another top notch urban artist; Wikise, of the “Shabalakatakari” fame.
In the company of the underrated dancehall icon, King Chambiecco, at Skyway College’s Social Weekend on Friday, Wikise was on top of his best; ditching out the finest to the fans.
It was no surprise that the fans as well, responded positively by chanting Wikise’s name on the jam packed Hall, whilst they sang along to Wikise’s popular hit, Shabalakatari.
So amazed and delighted was Wikise that in a post event interview, he could not hide his happiness. He said the turn-out was so encouraging and he would like to date the Green City again.
“Ï never anticipated this turn-up, despite the heavy down pour, but let me salute the audience, they have tried their level best! For this, let me promise them that I’m coming again in July, but this time, I will come with Abusa Ang’ono.” He revealed.
On their part, one of the patrons, Wakisa Mhone applauded Wikise for the nice-job-well done. He said his (the artist’s) dance floor management was a marvel to watch.
“This is what we expected from artists of such a stature. Wikise, and Chambiecco were just something else! I wish they could be coming here week in week out!” he testified.
During the show, Mzuzu-based up and coming urban artists like Pablo, Ego, Fresh Kid, Jetti C and others shook the dancefloor perfectly well as well.
Mzuzu City is now becoming one of the most popular avenues for hosting serious urban music shows courtesy of mammoth turn outs. Just recently Martse and other popular urban artists had another gigantic gig at Mzuzu Tourist lodge.
