Trisper Preaches Youth Empowerment in Debut EP, Real Friends

By Yankho Mkandawire

After years of dishing out singles, dancehall rising star, Trisper, has finally dropped his maiden compilation, a seven song Extended Playlist (EP), Real Friends, recently.

Real Friends, says Trisper, is two-fold. Firstly, it is a dedication to all his fans who have been loyal to him. It is also a consolidation of his music into a single-easy-to-handle platform.

He explains: “Real friends is my first project. I produced the EP dedicating it to all my real friends and music fans for the love which they have been showing all along”.

The seven songs in the EP are: Tsiku limodzi, Never give up, Why always Ghetto, Tonight, Heal the world, Mine, and Real friends. The glimpse into the EP reveals an underlaying theme; youth empowerment.

Tsiku limodzi opens the EP with some gospel touch that offers hope of a brighter day. It also prepares the youths for the judgement day where each person is going to be ‘rewarded’ according to their earthly lives.

Never give up comes second in the EP and in this song, he features Chizmo. The song encourages the youths and everybody else not to give up in everything which they do in their day-to-day livelihood.

In Why always ghetto? a collabo with Proskido and T star, Trisper attacksthe misconception that bedevils everything from the ghetto. The song invokes the powers that be to overcome oppression, envy and other setbacks that characterize ghetto life.

Tonight, a duet with Proskido. Sees the youngster going romantic by admiring the beauty of her lover.  It says true love exists though it not commonly found.

The EP continues by denouncing evils in the society in the song, Heal the World (a third hit that features Proskido). The songs talks about political vices in the society where political leaders exacerbate corruption and promote human killings in order to tighten their grip on power at the expense of hapless citizens.

Another love song in the EP is Mine and he features Minga in the song. It is an admiration of a lover-possibly the one proposed in the earlier track Tonight-with full assurance that he is giving her an undivided 100 percent love.

The EP concludes by appreciating the love from his friends and fans in the song Real Friends in which he features Mwenecho. It focuses on appreciating how his friends lifted him up to a position where he is right now.

The extended playlist is a master piece; a classic work of art of a talented up- and- upcoming artist with fine production and recording skills combined. After listening for the first time to the beautiful lyrics of the songs in the EP, the listener will stop at nothing but have the EP on repeat to enjoy more.

The EP can be accessed through different digital platforms locally, and internationally too.
