….2 games abandoned in week 20 of SIMSO league
….Luwinga United continue to find it hard in the league
By Sozo Kaperemera.
Week 20 of SIMSO league brought joy and sadness to concerned parties in the second tier league as we saw teams sharing spoils, winning, and dropping the much required maximum points.
As usual, men in black spoiled what were otherwise billed to be scintillating fixtures involving Baka City/Chilumba Barracks, and Nkhata-Bay United/Chitipa. Higgledy-piggledy reigned supreme in both of these matches as poor refereeing led to disagreements by the teams involved. We, the SIMSO –loving fraternity are surely waiting from the NRFA to map the way forward on this backward news.
Now, dear readers, I would like to switch your most prestigious attention to the results which took place in the past weekend.
In Nkhatabay, It was a battle of rookies as Nkhatabay welcomed home Thunduwike United at Maganga ground where the maximum points were at stake for both sides. Nkhatabay United used their home advantage as they conquered their opponents in a five goal thriller. The match ended 3-2.
In Mzuzu, Zolozolo United was at home against Ekwendeni United at Botanic ground. The match saw the home side playing all its cards well as it got the better of the visitors by 2 goals to nil. This result has helped Zolozolo to escape the red zone where it had stuck for almost all of the first half of the season.
In Rumphi, Chitipa based side Lufita United travelled to Rumphi to play Rumphi United at the Police ground where the home side used the advantage of playing at home when they humbled their opponents by 3 goals to 2.
Some kilometers away from Rumphi Boma, Katowo Young Soccer was at it against struggling Luwinga United at Katowo ground. Katowo utilized the current dismal form of their opponents by piling misery on them. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Katowo.
In Mzuzu, Fish Eagles put aside their FISD cup misfortunes where they were booted out by Chitipa United as they resumed their league assignments when they faced wounded soldiers Thunduwike at Katoto ground. Fish Eagles dominated the affairs of the game which made them score 3 goals past their opponent’s goal. The match ended 3 nil.
In Ekwendeni, Ekwendeni United was facing Rumphi united at the CCAP ground, the home side put their house together after a defeat to Zolozolo United, the match ended in favor of the home side as they humbled the Rumphi side by a single goal to nil.
In Rumphi, Phoka based Lura United was rocking horns with Lufita United at Wenela ground where the home team held on to their nerves as they saw off their counterparts by 2 goals to nil. The result means Lufita went back to Chitipa with nothing to show except the 2 goals they scored against Rumphi United.
In Mzuzu, Zolozolo United was playing against Manyamula FC at Botanic ground where the home side continued from its win as it also humbled the visitors by 4 goals to 1.
Finally, in Rumphi, Bolero United was playing against the now perpetual Simso-punch bag, Luwinga United. As expected, the match ended in favor of Bolero United as it scored 5 goals against 1.
This is where we should part ways in this week’s edition. Hopefully, you will pay us a visit in our next edition where we will have a glimpse of what will transpire in the coming weekend in our esteemed league!
