NEWS | MUSIC | UNTAPPED TALENT
By Sekelani Saka
Preaching the good news in form of music is slowly becoming a norm to most Malawian youths. After all, many of them stem from church choirs in their childhood years, so blending in into urban gospel music industry is not much of a hustle. No wonder on a daily basis, new gospel songbirds are sprouting.
One such remarkable female gospel artist whose voice is scratching the believers’ eardrum is Susan Kapalamula who is composing and writing for the studios under the name Sue K.
Sue K is the brains behind the spiritual “Ghetto Imagination”, a budding female gospel outfit based in Mponela, Dowa.
The 23-year-old artist, who also contributed her soft voice in Fantastic Farajan’s “Bless My Hustle” hit, announces her plans to feed the ears with a spiritual food through 3 songs in the second quarter of the year.
“I ‘m working on other songs which I believe will be releasing in the next four months,” Sue K commented.
Asked why she has preferred gospel music among all genres, Sue K described this as the way to reach out the world with the words of God and try to reshape the youth’s misconception about The Holy Spirit.
“I chose gospel music because I want to reach the world with God’s words through my music and the world should really know that there’s God up there,” she responded.
The young female artist believes in her talent to blow even though the market is almost saturated.
“It takes courage and hard work to achieve a lot so I’m gonna put myself in it. This will help me to make a name even to compete on the market,” she challenged.
Sue K’s professional dream has seen her releasing her maiden solo song, “Ndachoka Kutali” in October 2019.
