Local is lekker so goes the adage! Forgotten northern region based rapper, No Limit, real name Howokire Lweya, has dropped a music video, Swaggie yachi local…two years after the release of the audio version of the same.
The video, which has been released on Monday, the 26th of February 2018, is all about endorsing Malawians to opt for local products; a complimentary version of the Buy Malawi Campaign.
According to the artist, Malawi could be economically uplifted if Malawians opted for locally made products.
“The nature of the song is encouraging people to be patriotic by valuing locally made products, knowledge, talent, food and others” said No Limit
No Limit went unorthodox as he shot his music video at one of the remotest parts of the country; Kameme, the northern tip of Chitipa district (bordering Tanzania, and Zambia). The district also happens to be his home. No Limit had an explanation for the choice of the location.
“We chose Kameme because it’s one of the agricultural areas in Malawi which many Malawians depend on,” he revealed.
For those who have listened to Swaggie yachi local, they would testify of the creativity in the fusion of the afro-beat and the modern rap beat.
So, why combining hip-hop with tradition?
“I had wanted this song to narrow the generation gap; anyone should listen to it whether old or young, the massage goes to all Malawians. The connection of the youth lifestyle (hip-hop) and the setting of the video make it special,” Said He
The video was shot and directed by DAFLON 996 from Chitipa as well.
The audio, which has been enjoying massive airplays, was recorded at SU Records and was released on November 8th 2016.
It is found in his Mix tape, The Agent of Change, which talks more of young people as front-runners in developing the country.
