One of the country’s vibrant youth led organisations, Maphunziro 265 has urged youths in the country to follow career paths that are going to be fruitful in their (youths’) later lives.

The calls came during a Career talk event mid last week at Chinsapo Secondary school in Lilongwe where members of the organization provided school leavers with career choice presentation.

In an interview, Maphunziro 265 Central region Ambassador, Chifundo Chibaka, said the session was aimed at helping those who are in the process of applying for tertiary Education to have a wider knowledge when choosing a career program to pursue.

“We are offering such trainings so that our youths should make informed decision on what they are applying for and also share tips on how they can align their grades to a potential course they are applying for to stand a chance of being admitted into various public universities.”

The session covered self-awareness, where we did a series of exercises aimed at discovering their talents, passion so that they can choose careers that suits their passions.” Says he.

The organisation also trained the participants on the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) forms and explained to them what each course is all about and their requirements.

One of the participants, Gloria Mtende said initially, it was difficult for most applicants to choose the career but now all will be rosy.

“We always hear about tertiary institutions like The Polytechnic, Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) and others but we didn’t know what kind of programmes these colleges offered and what takes one to be such colleges but now the talk is an eye opener to us,” she said.

Maphunziro 265 started in 2016 with an aim of educating, informing, and training the youths on a number of important issues as well as helping underprivileged students by providing them scholarships.
