South Africa’s afro-music duo of Mafikizolo is among the major stars that are set to rock the stage in what is going to be the birth of Summer Jam Africa musical shows in Blantyre, and Lilongwe later in the month.
The mega musical show, jointly organized by FEPO Music Entertainment, and KCP Entertainment will see a line-up of other notable music gurus across Africa in the likes of King Soja, Ambani queen of house, and Shumza (from South Africa), and Jazz Kid from Nigeria sharing the stage with a number of well-known, and upcoming Malawian artists like Lulu, Theo Thomson, Piksy, Blaze, Flava & Virus among others.
According to one of the organisers, Felina Sakala-Nkhata of FEPO Music Entertainment, the show marks the genesis of an annual event that will be satisfying the musically and fun loving Malawians every Christmas festivity.
“SummerJam Music festival is here to stay. We want to make this as an annual event and every year, Malawians should be expecting to be entertained by new faces, and familiar music icons in the African musical industry,” says she.
And on the reason of bringing Mafikizolo back to M-Dubz again, Sakala-Nkhata had this to say.
“Mafikizolo is one of the hottest musical cakes across the continent. The name needs no introduction. It’s only been to Malawi twice and so that’s why we have decided to bring them and give Malawians a very rare treat for their festive season,” justifies Nkhata.
The show is also going to see a mixture of the new and the old names in the local music industry locking horns at Blantyre’s Robin’s Park, and Lilongwe’s BICC auditorium.
Among those on the M-Dubz line up representing the masters in the game are Piksy, Theo Thomson, and Lulu.
Apart from Nesnes, Ril B, and Roy View, Summer_Jam Africa has also decided to give a rare treat to one of the current party shakers, locally, the duo of Flava na Virus of the “Anamakutubembele” fame to showcase their musical talents; a gesture cherished by the duo.
“We feel honoured to be part of this show and we are very grateful. This is our chance to make a statement on the musical arena that Flava na Virus, are also a force to reckon with,” Virus challenges.
On his part, one of the common names in the history books of Malawi’s R n B circles, Lulu, Real name Lawrence Khwisa, has welcomed the Summer-Jam Africa concert idea and is hopeful, if sustained, could push Malawian music to greater heights.
“Summer_Jam Africa is a very brilliant idea only if they will sustain it and also make good strategies to promote it. If these could be realized, our music could be promoted internationally,” said Khwisa.
The show is going to be a litmus test of what FEPO Music Entertainment, and KCP Entertainment can offer to the raving M-dubz music party goers. When one hears the optimism on the part of the orgnaisers, one is left with no option but to taste what Sumer_Jam Africa has lined up on their menu.
“This year’s event is a mixture of recognized superstars and upcoming artists which makes an appetising fusion and at the same time offering the yet to be recognized artists a platform to showcase their talent to the same audience of the superstars. This is a show you can’t afford to miss!” Sakala-Nkhata challenges
