Paramount chief Kyungu of Karonga has called upon the youths there to take pivotal roles in preserving Malawian culture so as to boost the country’s development.
Kyungu made the plea at Miracle Technical Institute where the venue hosted a cultural week recently. The week aimed at embracing the diversity of Malawi’s cultures. He reminded the gathering of the importance of preserving our culture.
“Culture is very important as it enhances unity and also attract tourists who brings in forex. You, the youth should always remember your roots for without roots, you can’t have an identity,” he advised.
In her remarks, the Principal for the institution, Wanangwa Sichone, said she was impressed with the overall display of cultural activities throughout the week.
“It was really a wonderful event especially with the coming in of our paramount, it represented culture itself. So as an institute, we feel like we have achieved what we planned for this cultural week. The cultural displays were just so exquisite!” She praised.
The event was also spiced up by choosing Mr and Miss Miracle who will help the institution to make sure that no culture is segregated amongst the students and also to make sure that they advance the 5 characteristics of Marianist education.
