Former Mzuzu University goal minder Chimwemwe Kumkwawa has distanced himself from recent speculations linking him with a U-Turn to the Green Intellectuals.
Three weeks ago, reports in various media platforms were rife that the goalie had made a U-turn from Masters Security football club to the Mzuzu-based side. According to the claims, Kumkwawa’s agreement with Masters Security was only for two month and once the team was booted out of the continental showpiece of CAF he (Chimwemwe ) was to go back to MZUNI Fc.
But speaking to EM sports desk, Kumkwawa said, he was done with Mzuni Fc.
” I stayed well with Mzuni Fc the time I was with the club that’s why I went to Mzuni just to see my team mates, I missed them, not that I am returning, I will still play for Masters, the (contractual) discussions are still underway with them. Football is like employment, you work for this company today, tomorrow you will be somewhere”. Kunkwawa clarified.
And confirming Kumkwawa’s sentiments, Master’s Security FC’s, Zacharia Nyirenda said Kunkwawa belonged to Master’s Security.
“We made our announcement that Kunkwawa is our player; he played in CAF with Master’s! We don’t know those speculations about the two month contracts, for Chimwemwe is with us”. Said Nyirenda.
Kumkwawa spent one season with the Green Intellectuals from Nyasa Big Bullets. He was roped in to assist Master’s Security FC’s maiden appearance on the international CAF confederations where they were unceremoniously booted out in the preliminary round.
