Life for learners at Chilanga Boarding school for the blind in Kasungu is partially going to improve following a donation of assorted groceries by a Mzuzu based Non-Governmental organisation (NGO), Health Beauty and Tips recently.
The donated items, which included blankets, sugar, soap, food items and other groceries was made last week at the schools’ premises in Traditional Authority Kanika in the district.
Heath Beauty and Tips chairperson and founder Ramsey Mwapanya said they decided to donate the items due to an increase in number of children who are in dire poverty at the school.
“As an organization, we believe that everyone has a duty of helping children with physical disabilities like these ones. We established on our last visit that the place was in need of support such as food, shelter just among others and we promised them to come time and time.” He revealed.
The school accommodates 65 students who among them are blind, albinos, street children, orphans and among others.
Receiving on behalf of the school, Head teacher for the institution, Symon Mlowolo commended the organization for the donation saying the gesture would ease some of the problems the children are facing at the school.
“We are overwhelmed by the response from Health Beauty and Tips. It’s our prayer that other organizations would follow suit,” he begged.
He however, appealed to the organization to do the same to other physically challenged children in the country and urged other organizations to emulate what Healthy Beauty and Tips has done.
