As the countdown to Lake of Stars 15th Anniversary is on, local artists have vowed to dish out their best as they will be sharing stage with international guest performers, Major Lazor and Sauti Soul.
Unlike other festivals, this year’s lined up includes some of the country’s urban gospel music finests, gospel artists, Suffix, and KBG. In separate interviews, the duo has promised nothing short of fireworks.
According to Suffix, not only will he drop life changing Christian bars but he is also excited to be part of this year’s festival’s entertainers and how it will also be beneficial to him in his musical career.
“Lake of Stars is huge and probably one of the biggest festivals in Malawi. It will be a great opportunity to show case my talent to those who have never heard any of my songs and have never seen me performing. It is a good spot to market myself an artist also hence strengthen my brand out there.” He said.
On his part, KBG said that despite sharing stage with the likes of Don Moen, Lecrae, Da Truth among others, he appreciates the opportunity to share the stage with Major Lazor, And Sauti Soul.
“It is going to raise my portfolio as an artist because lake of stars is one of the biggest festivals we have out here. We know a lot of big people who want to perform at the festival and have not had the chance to, so for me it is no joke and it means there is something I am doing right to be part of such an event of great magnitude.” He explained.
The two artists believe that this year’s show will be the greatest show of a life time and they are impressed with the organizers’ choice of artists on the lineup which features some of the newest faces on the Mdubs music charts.
“I am not only going to perform with my band but also to watch my fellow local Malawian artists like Suffix, Kim do their thing. Most of the artists selected this year are amazing and exceptional so I’m also looking forward to watch them as a fan.” KBG said.
But does a secular show not contradict with life as a Christian?
KBG alias Kelvin Before Gumbi, said, “a lot of artists like us to perform at events like Lake of Stars because the most important thing is that we as Christians are called to reach out to the people in the world not just in the church.”
Meanwhile, both artists have been making preparations for the show at the festival and have promised that their fans and everybody attending the show will witness a show of a life time.
