Malawi’s Volleyball power house, Kamuzu Barracks (kb) men’s team, has vowed to defend Raiply Volleyball National Tournament title that is scheduled for a showdown from the 3rd to 5th November place at Katoto Secondary School court in Mzuzu,
KB Booked their place to the national final after emerging victors in the central region volleyball league (CRVL).
According to Kb’s All-rounder Captain, McGodwin Mangani, their league run is a proof of what they want to achieve this season.
“Having beaten all teams in the Central if a proof enough of our prowess! We are aiming at defending our title and we are ready to do that,” promised he.
On a sad note, the team is scheduled to travel without their Coach, S/SGT Omar Ntalika Banda who is out of the country for some official duties. Asked if their mentor’s absence is going to affect the team, Mangani said his charges cannot let such a minor issue affect their game play.
“We will miss his guidance, but endurance, determination, confidence, self-esteem and focus define a soldier. The morale in our camp is very high. We are garnered to conquer the north; that’s our mission! He challenged.
Information reaching EM’s sports desk indicates that the tournament will embody 10 men teams and 8 women teams.
The host, Northern Region Volleyball League will be represented by 4 teams, Central and Southern region will be represented by 3 male teams, and 2 apiece females teams.
Apart from KB, central region is also going to be represented by Mipunilo Spikers, and Blue Eagles
On Men’s Category, the winners are expected to come out with 600,000.00 Malawi kwacha whilst the female champions will walk away with 500,000 Malawi Kwacha.
Apart from the prize many, it is a tradition that the winners are sponsored by Volleyball Association of Malawi to travel outside the country for international games.
