Karonga United’s newly appointed coach, Daniel Dzinkambani has urged supporters of the Karonga Based outfit not to get carried away with the team’s 2018 TNM super league display which saw it (the team) surviving the chop.
The team survived the relegation amidst its pre-league relegation bound status. Among others, it also ensured its base, Karonga stadium, became a nightmare to visiting teams.
Such a feat has raised the expectations of Karonga United’s supporters, who are of the view their team will even surpass last season’s performance.
But in an interview, Dzinkambani warned the supporters not to over-burden his players by having too much expectations. He says there is need to express calm as teams would come harder on Karonga United courtesy of its last season’s exploits.
“We had a good season last year achieving all of our objectives but this season will be more harder as teams also have similar ambitions to ours hence cautioning the fans against having huge expectations,” he said.
He added, if the fans can temper expectations but keep the good atmosphere from last season within the club, then there is a chance of achieving something this season.
“If we want to achieve our set goals a lot of hard work has to be put in starting from players and the technical panel headed by me the head coach therefore urging fans for their understanding and patience,” Dzinkambani explained.
Meanwhile, Karonga United’s General Secretary Abraham Mwakwawa, has urged the club’s fans to have confidence in the newly hired head coach Dan Dzinkambani despite supporters’ preferring of Oscar Kaunda to be hired instead.
“We’ve hired an experienced coach who, fans should be excited about. We all need to give him all our support,” he said.
As we went to press, Karonga united had already resumed training in preparation for the start of the new season.
