As young as he looks, the one-time award-winning rapper – Waxy Kay has attracted magnitude of praises from Malawi’s hip-hop heavy weight -Gwamba who has come out in open to brand Za Zii hit maker as a future custodian of M-Dubz hip-hop.
Bushiri Records’s artist –Gwamba was left amazed with Waxy’s mature lyrics in a freestyle video clip and shared it on his official Facebook page with an adoring caption: “Young King Waxy, Mature lyrics, the game is in safe hands”.
The caption attracted over 4 thousand likes and prompted some fans to call for a collaboration of the two.
One of the page followers, Mabvuto Leliano commented: “from Zambia, please Mr Gwamba do something with this young King”
Replying to the calls, Gwamba asked for patience that he would soon come up with something with the young king.
“I love Waxy Kay, I am a big fan, but I can’t just Jump on a song with him because people on Facebook say we should. When the time and mood is right, it will happen, and it will be a hit” promised Gwamba.
After being questioned on the delay, Gwamba gave a reference of him and Fredokiss who despite being friends and sharing a booth over 50 times, they only have a song together- Nthawi Zanji which later became a hit.
“You know Fredo is my good friend right? We have been in the studio together more than 50 times, but we only have one song together, and it is a hit. You know why? Collaborations don’t just happen. You need to have same goal in the same mood for you to do a good song,”
Waxy Kay rose to stardom in 2017 with his songs Zaa Zii and My foot which enjoyed massive airplays – a feat that was to accolade him the UMP 2017 New Act Award.
