TNM Super league relegated side, Chitipa United is on the verge of losing out two of its engine rooms, rumored to be midfield maestro Hardy Ngandu and wing-wizard Christopher Mtambo to Super League fallen giants, Nyasa Big Bullets, EM can reveal.
The dual caught the eye of the Blantyre giants during Bullets recent 4-1 humbling of Chitipa United at the Karonga Stadium, as Ngandu’s ball retention, and Mtambo’s skillful wing play had fans, and coaches alike gasping.
Speaking in an interview, Bullets Assistant coach, Eliah Kananji, while confirming their interest in Chitipa United players, declined to name the interested individuals.
“Yes we still want to beef up our squad with two or three additions but I can’t name the players that we have targeted as other clubs might hijack the deals,” he said.
According to Kananji, the tour to Karonga, apart from being used to prepare for the start of the season, was also used as a scouting mission for possible transfer targets.
“Chitipa and Karonga historically produce a lot of talented players and this tour that we have had has enabled us to identify players that we feel can be a great addition to our squad but we can’t speak about them till the deals are completed,” explained Kananji.
Reacting to the supposed interest in his players, Chitipa united coach Robert Mzinza, said he was delighted to see his players linked with big clubs.
“I’m happy with the interest as it means we are doing something good at our club to attract giants of Malawi football clubs in our players and to me that can only be a positive,” he said.
As this year’s TNM Super league season count down continues, Nyasa Big Bullets has roped in Patrick Phiri from Wizards FC and Righteous Banda from Civo Sporting Club.
