They say album is what defines a real artist, well it’s the art of coming up with the great composition that makes an artist extraordinary. We can both agree on one issue here, Malawi urban music circle has experienced a release of several albums, EPs and mixtapes this year and each time people check them out, they are left in disappointments, artists are failing to deliver. Fast forward this November, A reason To Smile (ARTS) is one of the best art of music you will ever listen to and it’s worth checking out.

Bazz revealed to Entertainment Malawi, the imperativeness of an artist dropping a new piece of art annually for the fans.

“As an artist, I feel its good to showcase what you’ve been working on throughout the year as a way of keeping your fans motivated so I hope people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it,” He said.

Pierre Mangoche better known as Bazz in the music industry has prepared a 9 track project called ARTS which is set to drop on November 29 2019. The mixtape carries a diverse number of songs ranging from social issues, lifestyle, daily hustles of the ghetto and love.

The tape will be released on 29th November but people can pre-order the CD for k2000 copies will be available in Mzuzu and Lilongwe only for the time being and is currently working on distribution in several parts of the country so that everyone gets a test of what’s packed in “Arts”.

Apart from entertaining the audience the mixtape also dishes out life advice to the young girls that they should not fall into the snares of the so-called “Blessers” because it all ends to the spread of STDS and HIV.

Music Journey and Life

Bazz started music in 2015 as a hip-hop artist and his breakthrough was when he was featured on homages’ Run North track which got lots of attention in 2017. The next level of achievement was when he worked on an EP “Colours” which boosted up his status in 2018. The EP received good feedback from his fans and that also gives him the energy to believe “ARTS” is going to be loved greatly as well.

“I also won the online freestyle competition held by Carlsberg in 2019 and moment like these inspires the inner me to work extra harder and deliver the best to my fans, besides that, I was one of the lineups for the Kukaya Urban Music performance” said Bazz.

Apart from music, academically Bazz is in his final year at the University of Livingstonia doing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Rights and his side hustle is videography under Pages Pictures and also is a graphic designer with limitless focus.


Bazz says his brother Patrick who used to do Dancehall music is his greatest inspiration. Being around an artist like his brother and listening to other international artists propelled him to the music industry.

“I grew up listening to the likes of Bob Marley and 2Pac and trust me, these are also some of the most important artists that have helped shape my music,” He said.

The future

“I see a great and brighter future ahead, it’s nice to see people respond positively each time I drop a project. It just shows how much the people like what I offer them and I see the best coming since now the industry promotes local talents”, he concludes.
