Lilongwe-based acoustic gospel singer, Elijah Kamanga has said his forthcoming debut album, “As You are” is a dream-coming-true as he marks entry into the world of professional music.
“As You are” is a ten track album that is expected to be launched in Lilongwe on the 17th of August at a venue only to be known to “ticket buyers.”
According to the youngster, it has taken him years to leap through into the professional music world, having been undermined by various quarters.
“It’s not easy to breakthough in the world of music in Malawi currently. It’s taken me years to reach this far. I really don’t take it for granted,” he says.
Motivated by the Holy Writ where God calls upon all and sundry to acknowledge his presence, “As You Are” is a litany aimed at calling people of all nations to follow the holy path. He argues God’s doors are open for everybody who accepts His authority.
“You see, many people including myself, struggle to look perfect before God while in actual sense, we are not perfect. “It doesn’t matter whether you’re a sinner or otherwise. The real deal is accepting His call and it’s only Him who cleans us all from sins,” preaches he.
The album has such songs as “Come to me,” “Perfect,” “You make away” and “Nkhondo” among others.
Previously, Elijah has ever worked with revered producers in the names of Seven-0-More, GoodHabit, Manifest and Crack. On this album however, Chizmo’s Subsistence music was the kitchen.
Meanwhile, some scintillating performances are already on the menu as the dreadlocked gospel artist has lined up some of the country’s cream in the likes of Cozizwa, Zey Milions, Rejoice and Reclaimed who are set to mesmerize the audience.
Above all, members of the audience also stand a chance of going home with “As you Are” CDs which are going to be at relatively lower prices.
