From your observation, who’s ruling the 265 urban music industry currently?

  • Tay Grin. He’s been representing Lately.

Beef music appears to be taking over the M-Dubz music podium, is this healthy for the industry?

  • Very healthy when two parties sharing the beef are on the same level.

Most embarrassing moment ever encountered as an artist:

  • Was being denied entry to an event I was to perform because the security guards didn’t recognize me.

The twilight of your career? The most memorable moment:

  • The day I traveled to perform in Karonga from Blantyre, in the company of DJ Love, Saint and Smacks. We had good chills all the way.

What do you think needs to be done to promote urban music industry in Malawi?

  • The government should start taking this music industry very serious and let there be ways of making artists earn from their art. Companies should start using artists as brands. We really need a lot of money to take our art to higher heights.

We understand one of the international TV stations TRACE will start playing your music videos. What advice can you offer to fellow urban artists locally for their music videos to attract international exposure?

  • Creativity in our videos; let’s produce good videos. And our fans should be requesting for our videos on these channels. That will make the channel know how important we are.
